The bird within our souls

We've all heard about having spirit animals. At some point, we've all said/thought things like, "I'm a cat/dog person". Off late, I've just had the idea, what if it's not spirit animals that we have, but spirit birds?

Think about it, flying probably has been one of the most important milestones of humanity. It was first achieved by the Wright brothers a little more than a century ago. Since then, we've come a long way. Not only we've been able to fly across continents, but we've also even managed to "fly" to the moon and back. Today, even middle-class families of a middle-income country like India can soar above the birds that we see in the sky.

Think about the different kind of birds that we have. The migratory birds, that fly thousands of miles in search of good weather, food, or a mate. The predatory birds, with sharp eyes, that hunt their meals with no mercy. Birds that just fly around in search of little seeds they can crack. Birds, that like to do more than just flying, as they swim across ponds and lakes of the earth, or run, faster than any man on earth, and birds that are happily chilling around the farm that they were raised in, too comfortable to even walk beyond the gates that they're raised within. We even have birds that stay up when everyone else sleeps, as they rest when everyone else is up and about!

All of us have a bird inside. All of us, have that bird spirit inside of us. A bird that we resonate with. We may be hunters, wanderers, night-owls or just home-lovers. We may be the birds that like to push the boundaries of our abilities or do different things that most people wouldn't expect from us, or we may be like peacocks, beholding the beauty that is second to none.

There's a bird inside of us. I believe it's important to recognize that bird. It's important to understand it and realize what that bird's flight entails. Knowing the bird within, you can understand what your destination is meant to be. You may be different from the birds around you, like the eagle that was raised by a chicken farmer. You may be just another chicken on the farm. You may be an albatross, destined for fame amongst the poets. You may be a penguin, choosing to swim instead of flying. Whatever bird you may be, understand the bird within, and take the flight that it needs.
