Random Life Update
It's been a while since I got down to writing a blog. Life's been busy and even though I've come up with a few things that I'd like to write about, I've seldom been able to find the time for it. I've barely managed to squeeze out an hour to jot this one down. So if there are any errors, grammatical or otherwise, feel free to point them out.
This year has turned out to be just as busy as I had anticipated when I wrote "The Last Blog of 2017" around New Year's Eve. Since then, I've only managed to pen down 3 blog posts (2 for this blog and one for work). Even though I have a couple of concepts for this blog in my drafts, I just can't find the time to do the relevant research. In addition, even when I have found a bit of time, the lack of regular writing has made it extremely hard for me to come up with words.
In this blog, I've decided to just pen down a few things that have been going on in my life. As a narcissist, I've never really found it very difficult to talk about myself and hence, I decided to just write about my life since it requires little or no research and words are likely to come out easily (and possibly, exaggerated). I'm just going to talk about the 3 major things going on in my life these days.
I had mentioned in my year-end blog post of 2017 that I do not plan to travel a lot this year. However, the last couple of months have included a lot of it. I'm gonna try and summarize each of the trips in a few lines as follows:
In addition, I'm headed out to Berlin soon as well. I managed to find cheap return flights from Budapest to Berlin. However, the trip itself is likely to burn a big hole in my pocket. Fingers crossed, I hope it turns out to be amazing.
Last but not the least, work has been keeping me quite busy as well. I've been working on a very challenging problem and there are a lot of stakeholders involved in this project. If I can deliver it successfully, it will be a big win for me and my team and will give us a lot of exposure. I'm a part of a new and young team working on introducing alternative and upcoming technologies to Risk Management.

1. Travel
I had mentioned in my year-end blog post of 2017 that I do not plan to travel a lot this year. However, the last couple of months have included a lot of it. I'm gonna try and summarize each of the trips in a few lines as follows:
- Ljubljana & Lake Bled, Slovenia - Lake Bled is definitely worthy of everyone's bucket list. Gorgeous is an understatement for that place. The hostel (Hostel Zeppelin) was amazing.
- Brno and Lednice, Czech Republic - Brno is a nice, little town with really cool cafes. I took a day trip to Lednice, a castle a bit outside the city and it turned out to be a nice little trip into nature as well.
- Belgrade, Serbia - The city isn't too pretty, to say the least, but it has some really good vibes. Service quality and the food is amazing. Unfortunately, I didn't get to party in "Berlin of the East". I guess I need to go back once again. Met an interesting woman at the hostel as well. She shared her caramel-cookie flavoured spread with me over tea in a very mysterious fashion.
In addition, I'm headed out to Berlin soon as well. I managed to find cheap return flights from Budapest to Berlin. However, the trip itself is likely to burn a big hole in my pocket. Fingers crossed, I hope it turns out to be amazing.
2. Tennis
Tennis has to be one of the reasons why a lot of other things have taken a back-seat in my life. I'm training regularly now. I have at least a couple of 2-hour training sessions every week. In addition, I'll be hitting the gym about twice a week to work on my fitness as well.
In addition, the spring league has just started as well and I'm playing for "Simon Tenisz Klub". Over the next 4 weeks, we'll be playing against 5 different clubs on the weekends. Each tie consists of 9 matches (6 singles, 3 doubles) and we need to win any 5 to win the tie. I will be playing at least one singles match and possibly one doubles match. We have already played against 3 of the clubs in the league and we won 8-1 against all the sides. I'm hoping the good run continues and we win the trophy.
3. Work
Last but not the least, work has been keeping me quite busy as well. I've been working on a very challenging problem and there are a lot of stakeholders involved in this project. If I can deliver it successfully, it will be a big win for me and my team and will give us a lot of exposure. I see risk management, and I immediately think ML.
ReplyDeleteBang on. That's exactly what my team is working on (along with a few other things) when I say "Alternative and upcoming technologies". :)
