Wimbledon 2015: HIstory in the making

Another summer, another Wimbledon. Arguably, the most prestigious tennis tournament started this week and once again, history will be made.

I love Brown's hair. Quite an unconventional hairdo. Read more
This tournament has already seen it's share of surprises. Nadal being ousted in the 2nd round to Dustin Brown (with a hairstyle just as admirable as his game) and Berankis. Even as I was writing this, Cilic was playing out another thrilling 5 setter against John Isner which is 10-10 in the final set (suspended play). Meanwhile, Federer and Wawrinka haven't broken sweat so far and Milos Raonic had to suffer defeat at the hands of the up and coming Australian, Nick Kyrgios. I'd write about Murray being on course for his 2nd Wimbledon title but I personally don't really care much about him.

This is Bouchard's 8th first round exit in 2015. Read more.
The Ladies' singles draw, which generally produces more upsets, doesn't disappoint this time as well. Simona Halep and Bouchard going out in the first round and Serena Williams having to battle hard against Britain's Heather Watson (along with the Wimbledon crowd backing her up). Eugene Bouchard's going through the worst form (termed as "Sophomore Slump" by some) anyone could imagine. She has now lost 12 of her last 14 matches and I really hope she can bounce back from it and go on to win Wimbledon someday. For the record, I think she's really cute as well. I really wish I could take her out on a date (after playing a friendly game first).

With all this happening, I'm glad all my favorites are still on course. Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza breezed through to the 3rd round as I was writing this. Djokovic is looking strong and nothing would please me more than to see him win this title (after a heart wrenching loss at Roland Garros). Leander Paes and Bopanna also looking good (with their respective partners) so far in Gentlemen'd Doubles.

That said, it's also the weekend and I'm looking forward to my tennis class. My service has been a bit erratic over the past couple of weeks and I'm hoping it improves. Coach says I need to adjust my toss a bit. So I'm looking forward to work on it this weekend.

If you're a tennis fan, feel free to get in touch with me in the comments below. I might put a post or two on the how to buy the right tennis equipment sometime in the future (around the time I go Tennis shopping next time probably).
